Graduation is a time of celebration and reflection. It is a time to celebrate the graduating class’s accomplishments and reflect on the journey that has brought them to this point. For many students, graduation is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.

It is also a time to pause and ask meaningful questions about the future: “What are your goals? What are your dreams? What do you want to achieve in your life?” — Anthony Jose Ferrer

It is a time to celebrate the friendships made and the lessons learned. It is also a time to look forward to the future and all its possibilities. For teachers who teach in Thailand, moments like this remind us that education is not only about lessons, exams, and classroom routines. It is also about helping students prepare for the next chapter of their lives.

In this blog, let’s check out how we celebrated graduation day, a great time to celebrate the love month, the fruit of successes, and celebrations for the new chapter and journey of our students through the BFITS Program.

A Special Day for Graduates

On the 14th of February, it is a very special day for our graduating students. As the 2024-2025 graduates of Saipanyarangsit (SPR) School, our students have much to be proud of.

They have overcome many challenges to get to this point. They have persevered through difficult classes, demanding teachers, and long nights of studying. They have also learned to balance their academic work with their extracurricular activities, their social lives, and their family obligations.

They have learned to be responsible, organized, and independent. They have also learned the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and communication.

For those who teach in Thailand, graduation becomes one of the most meaningful moments to witness. It shows how much students have grown, not only academically, but also personally.

Friendship Books and Signed Uniforms

In Thailand, this milestone is celebrated with unique traditions that embody the deep bonds of friendship and shared experiences among students. Two significant customs that stand out are the Friendship Book and Signing Uniforms.

These practices serve as cherished reminders of the friendships and memories formed throughout the years.

Friendship Books Preserve School Memories

The Friendship Book, also known as “สมุดเฟรนด์ชิพ” (Samut Friendship), is a heartfelt way for students to express their thoughts, appreciation, and well-wishes to their peers.

This book, often creatively decorated, contains personal messages, drawings, and sometimes even inside jokes that reflect the unique connections between friends. It is a tradition that allows students to preserve the emotions and experiences shared during their school years.

The significance of the Friendship Book lies in its ability to capture a moment in time. As students move on to different paths—whether further studies, careers, or new adventures—this book remains a tangible reminder of their school days. It is not just a notebook; it is a treasure trove of nostalgia that, years later, will bring back fond memories of laughter, struggles, and triumphs.

Signed Uniforms Mark Meaningful Goodbyes

Another unique tradition in Thai graduation culture is Signing Uniforms or “เซ็นเสื้อ” (Sen Suea). On the last day of school, students bring markers and colorful pens to sign each other’s uniforms, writing messages, doodles, and farewell notes.

This practice symbolizes the lasting friendships and shared experiences that will remain even as students part ways. Each signature and note represents a bond between classmates, teachers, and friends.

Some messages are lighthearted and humorous, while others carry deep emotions and well-wishes for the future. Unlike formal keepsakes, these handwritten words on uniforms serve as an informal yet profoundly personal way of saying goodbye.

Small Gifts with Lasting Meaning

Food is a universal symbol of care and gratitude. Sharing snacks is a warm and familiar way of showing respect and appreciation. It creates a moment of connection where students and teachers can share in the joy of achievement.

This year, I am lucky to receive snacks from my students. This simple act is their gratitude and thanks. This act also serves as a farewell, marking the transition from being a learner under a teacher’s guidance to the next phase of life with the knowledge and wisdom imparted.

Although snacks may seem like a small gift, their impact can be profound. I will often remember these gestures long after my students have moved on. The effort and thoughtfulness behind the act make it special.

Some of my students personalize their gifts by decorating snacks, and some made the snacks themselves, like the cookies. This personalization makes the gesture even more meaningful. A simple yet lasting impact!

Dancing Through Graduation Memories

Dancing is a universal language that brings people together. To celebrate graduation with my students, I participated in their trending dance challenge.

Since it is not every day that we celebrate graduation, I showed my hidden talent by dancing to celebrate and enjoy their graduation. We were laughing so hard that I couldn’t contain my happiness.

The fun of doing this dance challenge with my students extends beyond just entertainment. These activities promote physical health, teamwork, confidence, and creativity, all while making fun memories before the academic year ends.

I will surely miss our dance groove together!

Soar High and Find Your Path: The Teacher’s Message

To my dear students, as you stand on the threshold of a new chapter in your lives, I want to take a moment to congratulate each of you on this remarkable achievement. It marks the end of one journey and the beginning of another, filled with new challenges, opportunities, and adventures.

Reflecting on your journey, I remember the countless hours you spent studying, the late nights filled with determination, and the moments of doubt that you overcame with courage. Each lesson you learned, each mistake you corrected, and each success you achieved have shaped you into the individual you are today.

Your growth, both academically and personally, has been inspiring to witness, and I am honored to have played a role in your development.

Carry the Lessons Forward

As you move forward, I encourage you to carry with you the lessons you have learned—not just from textbooks, but from experiences, friendships, and challenges.

Remember that education does not end with graduation; it is a lifelong journey. Keep your curiosity alive, continue to ask questions, and never stop seeking knowledge. The world is vast and ever-changing, and your willingness to learn will be your greatest asset.

Hold On to Your Values

More importantly, as you chase your dreams, do not forget the values that define you. Integrity, kindness, and resilience will guide you through life’s uncertainties.

Success is not measured solely by wealth or status but by the positive impact you have on others. Be a force for good, help those in need, and always strive to make the world a better place.

Keep Moving Through Challenges

There will be obstacles along the way, but do not be afraid of failure. Every setback is an opportunity to learn, to grow, and to emerge stronger.

Believe in yourself, trust your abilities, and never underestimate the power of perseverance. You have already proven your capability by reaching this milestone, and I do not doubt that you will accomplish even greater things in the future.

SOAR HIGH AND FIND YOUR PATH. But if you cannot FIND it, CREATE IT.

Questions for the Future

Find the answers: “What are your goals? What are your dreams? What do you want to achieve in your life?”

To answer the questions, I encourage you to set goals for yourself and to make a plan to achieve them. Don’t be afraid to take risks. Don’t be afraid to fail. The most important thing is to keep moving forward.

I believe in you, my dear students. I know that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. As you leave these halls and embark on your next adventure, know that you are never alone. Your teachers, mentors, and loved ones will always be here to support and cheer you on.

This is not goodbye; it is a celebration of your potential and the brighter future ahead.
