On 15 January 2025 (Wednesday), BFITS Thailand officially kicked off the highly anticipated BrightMinds featuring The Future is Yours Webinar Series of 2025. This initiative has been designed to guide students, parents, and educators through the shifting world of career development and help create a vision for future skills. The series aims to lead and support students in identifying pathways to career success within an ever-evolving world.
The first of the webinars, entitled The Future is Yours: The Future is Yours: Expert Insights on Your Career, featured a remarkable speaker, Mr. Suthichai Yoon. He is a prominent Thai journalist, media executive, and public intellectual whose career has straddled decades of pioneering work in journalism and communications.
An Inspirational Voyage: Mr Suthichai Yoon

The career of Mr. Suthichai Yoon shows the power of curiosity, perseverance, and dedication to a worthy cause that ensures positive changes in society. His journalism career started at the young age of 16, and he was motivated by a drive to understand his surrounding world and let others into that understanding. He explained he had come to discover journalism from an early love of reading biographies-from scientists to musicians, politicians to artists.
The stories of individuals who made a difference in the world sparked his desire to do the same. In due course, Mr. Suthichai became a pioneer in Thailand’s media scene, founding the country’s first English-language daily business newspaper and winning many accolades, including being the first Thai journalist to win the prestigious ASEAN Communications Award.
Mr. Suthichai’s rich experience set the tone for this series on how to unlock future potential. With decades of experience in journalism, media, and digital platforms, he has gradually emerged as a voice respected not only in Thailand but on the global stage. His expertise extends into television, radio, and online media, enabling him to be that influential voice in shaping the way we consume information today.
Finding Your Passion: A Roadmap for the Next Generation

From the very beginning of the webinar, Mr. Suthichai Yoon shared powerful advice with the attendees, especially students who are seeking to discover their career paths. He urged them to take the time to find something they truly care about, emphasizing the importance of passion in one’s career. He advised that in order to find your future career path, you must first find your focus. The world is full of distractions, but you must learn how to tune them out.
Reflecting on his life, Mr. Suthichai recalled how, when he was young, every day at 5 am, he would get up to read or study, often sitting outside in the light of the street lamps, in order to develop a foundation for his life. This commitment to self-improvement and learning helped him lay the path for his expansive career. He reiterated how developing good habits, like early morning reading or devoting time to personal growth, would pay off in the long run.
Mr. Suthichai spoke of his thoughts on how technology has affected and changed his career and the world. Since the invention of the internet, and then smartphones, specifically the iPhone, the way information is consumed has changed. Earlier in the meeting, he had expressed a wish that he had been born into this generation. He reflected on how much technology has joined the world into one, and media is available literally to everyone from a device in our hands.
Key Competencies for Success in 21st Century

When asked specifically about what key competencies he thought all students needed for the future, Mr. Suthuchai underlined three skill areas he maintained the next generation needed to create for themselves: critical thinking, problem-solving ability, and the ability to question or inquire.
He strongly feels that in this modern world, where all information is just a click away, students should be analytical enough to be in a position to filter and process all data that comes their way. Problem-solving, he had said, was equally important since no matter what one did in life, one would always have problems, but it was the way of solving those problems that would define whether one was successful or not.
In other words, Mr. Suthichai emphasized only the asking of questions. Asking a question-this is actually powerful; so long as one has the mind and can develop more questions in any situation whatsoever to learn more in life or do more research work. Such students who foster this quality develop a passion for continuous learning and for constantly adapting-an effective asset base on an unforeseen future trajectory, he points out.
Artificial Intelligence and Its Impact on the Workforce in the Future

Regarding the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it may affect the workforce, the next point brought up by Mr. Suthichai Yoon was very reflective. The question he was asked is literally in every other person’s mind at this time, with the rate at which AI is developing: How will AI impact the future of work and the job market?
So said Mr Suthichai, who lived through the rise of the internet and drew parallels thick and fast. Just as the internet brought about a period of change and uncertainty for the job market, so will AI. However, rather than fearing what might come next, he encouraged the students, parents, and educators to embrace them. He explained that when the internet came, most people had fears that conventional jobs would become redundant. Instead, it opened up new possibilities we couldn’t have ever imagined. He advised everyone around him to surf the wave of change; he says we can do the same with AI.
He also touched on the darker side of technological advancements, such as the rise of fake news, which has increased due to social media and digital platforms. In this new digital world, staying informed and critically evaluating information will be essential for both individuals and organizations. In this age of rapid change, it is crucial to keep learning, keep asking questions, and keep adapting to the technological shifts happening around us.
The Future is Yours!

Mr. Suthichai Yoon felt, that the phrase ‘The Future is Yours’ sends a very strong message to students because it emphasizes that the choice of their future depends on themselves. He explained that this phrase makes people responsible for their own destiny, reminding them that the future is not preordained or laid out before them.
Instead, it is up to each person to choose the path they wish to follow based on their own interests, passions, and ambitions. This mindset, he believes, empowers students to take control of their lives and make intentional decisions that will lead to success and fulfillment.
Looking Ahead: Embrace Change, Keep Learning

Mr. Suthichai’s insights during the BrightMinds webinar offered invaluable guidance for students, parents, and educators alike. As the world continues to change at a fast pace, it is essential to stay focused, develop critical skills, and embrace technology. In essence, what was conveyed to students was that the future is indeed yours, but only if one is willing to remain inquisitive, put in hard work, and adjust to the opportunities that technology will surely continue to present.

The BrightMinds series is shaping up to be one great, enlightening journey for all those who want to future-proof their careers. Though the inspiring speakers and practical insights are yet to come, one thing is already clear: the path to career success in the 21st century is a path of both vision and flexibility.
Be it a student or a parent looking to teach their child, this series provides streams of informative avenues toward understanding a world that is constantly in flux. Keep learning, keep questioning, and most importantly-keep believing that the future belongs to you.
