As we approach the end of 2024, it is the perfect moment to reflect on a year brimming with milestones, lessons, and transformative experiences. From the classrooms to the auditoriums and from individual achievements to collective leadership, this year has been a celebration of growth and unity.

In this blog, we begin a journey through BFITS 2024—reliving the remarkable moments that have shaped our present and continue to guide our future. From students to teachers, administrators, and every member of the BFITS family, let’s cherish the memories we’ve created together and look ahead to an even brighter 2025.

January: A Month of Fresh Starts and Dynamic Energy

January kicked off the year with a sense of renewal and possibility. It was a month filled with events that brought together students, teachers, and communities across Thailand.

  • THK BFITS Program Camp: This exciting event provided a unique platform for students to develop confidence, learn new skills, and break free from the confines of traditional learning environments. Teachers organized outdoor activities emphasizing teamwork, problem-solving, and personal growth, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

  • SPIM’s Children’s Day: Celebrating the importance of children, this event highlighted their rights and potential while promoting a sense of joy and belonging. It served as a reminder of the pivotal role children play in shaping our future.

  • TUR’s Open House: A vibrant showcase of educational opportunities, this tradition allowed prospective students and families to explore the unique offerings of our BFITS programs.

  • THK’s Open House: This event gave the community a firsthand experience of the high-quality education BFITS offers. It was an inspiring showcase of exceptional educational opportunities, sparking excitement for future enrollment and leaving a lasting impression on everyone who attended.

Other remarkable highlights in January included the SKR Score Up Camp, where students showcased their talents in a lively, collaborative atmosphere that emphasized both academic excellence and team spirit. At the WKM EP Camp, dynamic and interactive activities combined fun with practical learning, boosting students’ confidence and teamwork.

These are just a few of the many memorable events that unfolded this month, but the spotlight undoubtedly belongs to The Bright Challenge 2024. This thrilling competition, organized in collaboration with our partners, brought students together for STEM-based challenges that sharpened their English skills, analytical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. It stood as a shining example of how education can be innovative, engaging, and transformative.

February: A Month of Love, Celebration, and Success

Though February is the shortest month of the year, it was packed with impactful events and meaningful milestones.

  • SJC’s Quiz Bee Competition: A lively contest that encouraged students to think critically, sharpen their knowledge, and showcase their skills in a competitive yet supportive environment.

One of the most emotional highlights of February was the Graduation Ceremonies. For students, families, and educators, graduation represents a culmination of hard work and dedication. It marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, filled with endless opportunities and aspirations. From heartfelt speeches to joyous celebrations, these ceremonies were a poignant reminder of the transformative power of education.

March: A Month of Rest, Exploration, and Reconnection

March was a time for our BFITS teachers to take a well-deserved break, reconnect with loved ones, and recharge their minds and spirits. It’s like our favorite subject—recess. After the intense final grading period and the successful completion of the school year, many embraced the opportunity to travel, reflect, and rediscover their passions.

Vacations are not just a luxury—they are essential to maintaining balance and well-being. Whether exploring new countries, enjoying a weekend getaway, or simply indulging in a staycation, the BFITS family took this time to rest and rejuvenate. These moments of relaxation prepared everyone for the dynamic challenges and opportunities that lay ahead.

April: A Month of Hope and New Beginnings

As the season of renewal arrived, April brought a spirit of preparation and possibility. For BFITS, this meant equipping teachers with the tools and skills needed to excel in the upcoming academic year.

  • BFITS Welcome Orientation (April 2024): Led by HR Manager Angel Ha, our newly hired bright teachers were warmly welcomed by the BFITS Executive Management, including Mr. Nicholas Newell, Managing Director of The Bright Group, and Mr. Ratthakarn Chamalerk, Director of BFITS Thailand. Their inspiring addresses emphasized the core values of passion, dedication, and innovation, setting the tone for an exciting journey ahead.

  • Practicum Training: Hands-on experiences allowed educators to practice classroom management, lesson planning, and interactive teaching techniques.

  • Preparatory Courses: These courses were organized for schools like RO and SPIM, ensuring that students and teachers alike were ready for the challenges of the new academic term.

  • Academics Workshop Series: Led by Matt Krupa, Academic Manager, and Apasra Bootsingkorn (Pop), Academic Assistant, alongside educational partners like McGraw Hill, Macmillan Education, Cengage/National Geographic, and Code.org, these workshops empowered teachers with best practices, innovative teaching methods, and cutting-edge technologies to enhance classroom learning.

April was a month of building strong foundations, ensuring that every member of the BFITS family was ready to inspire and lead their students toward success.

May: A Fresh Start to an Exciting Academic Year

With the new school year commencing, May was a month of excitement, anticipation, and preparation. The energy was palpable as BFITS continued its mission to provide high-quality education and equip teachers for the journey ahead.

  • BFITS Professional Development: Led by Giselle Alano, BFITS Assistant Director, alongside Program Managers Marjorie Mabini, Alex O’Bannon, Patrick O’Connor, and Trell Cornelius, this phase of the training brought teachers together to refine their skills further. It focused on innovative classroom techniques, advanced strategies for fostering student engagement, and collaborative discussions, empowering educators to deliver exceptional learning experiences.

  • RO Preparatory Courses: Focused on giving students a head start, these courses allowed learners to ease into the academic year with confidence.

  • WKM Prep Course and One-Day English Camp: These initiatives were designed to strengthen English language proficiency while encouraging creativity and teamwork.

Across Thailand, schools buzzed with activity as students returned with fresh energy, ready to explore, learn, and grow. The sense of purpose and hope for a successful academic year was shared by educators, students, and parents alike.

June: A Time for Innovation and Community Spirit

June brought a dynamic mix of innovation, community engagement, and meaningful connections, further uniting the BFITS family.

  • SW Charity Walk: This remarkable event wasn’t just about walking; it was about walking for a cause. Participants from the community joined together to raise awareness and support charitable initiatives, emphasizing the importance of social responsibility and collective action.

  • BFITS Thai Language Program: Led by HR Manager Angel Ha (Khru Angel) and Operations Manager Nutnaree Ruksachob (Khru Nut), this program offered our teachers an exciting opportunity to immerse themselves in the Thai language and culture. Through engaging lessons and practical activities, the program not only enhanced language skills but also fostered deeper connections with the communities where our teachers work. Learning Thai with BFITS became a cornerstone of building understanding and camaraderie among teachers and students alike.
  • BFITS Webinar Series Kick-Off Session: Led by Training Manager James Tovey, this webinar series served as a powerful platform for professional development, equipping educators with cutting-edge strategies and tools. The session brought together teachers and staff to discuss innovative practices and set the tone for future growth and excellence.

  • Classroom Innovations: Across BFITS schools, teachers continued implementing creative techniques that made learning engaging and interactive. From incorporating new technologies to fostering collaborative learning environments, these efforts further solidified the program’s commitment to delivering exceptional education.

June demonstrated that education is not just about imparting knowledge—it’s about building stronger, more compassionate communities. Through initiatives that combined learning, innovation, and social impact, the BFITS family continued to shine as a beacon of inspiration and growth.

July: Exploring the Wonders of Our Universe

July was a month that inspired wonder, curiosity, and the limitless potential of human ingenuity. The standout event was undoubtedly Space Day 2024, hosted at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) and in Play La Ploen, Buriram.

Students and teachers from BFITS partner schools gathered to marvel at the wonders of the universe. Highlights included:

  • Astronaut Charles “Sam” Gemar’s Inspiring Talk: The astronaut’s journey from Earth to space ignited a passion for discovery and exploration among students, encouraging them to dream big and aim high.

  • Interactive Exhibits and Workshops: From learning about the solar system to exploring the latest discoveries in space technology, students engaged in hands-on activities that brought science to life.

July also included the SPIM Teachers Annual Observation and WPS ICEP Academic Day, where educators showcased their expertise in creating innovative and interactive learning experiences for students.

August: Creativity, Curiosity, and Teamwork

As the year progressed, August became a celebration of creativity, curiosity, and collaboration across BFITS partner schools.

  • SKR’s Score Up Camp: M4–M6 students took center stage, presenting innovative projects that reflected their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The event fostered a sense of accomplishment and pride among students while inspiring their peers.

  • SNR’s Science Week: Science came alive through engaging activities that made complex concepts easy to understand and exciting to explore. Teachers and students collaborated in experiments, demonstrations, and interactive sessions that deepened their love for the subject.

  • SNR M4–M5 IE Camp and BD EP Camp: These camps emphasized English proficiency, teamwork, and cultural exchange, providing students with a well-rounded learning experience.

Through every event, August demonstrated the importance of teamwork, innovation, and the joy of learning, leaving a lasting impact on students and teachers alike.

September: A Month to Remember with Innovation and Diversity

September was a month brimming with creativity, collaboration, and cultural appreciation, showcasing the diverse and dynamic spirit of the BFITS family.

  • SW’s EP International Day: Celebrating diversity; this vibrant event featured costumes, cultural booths, and activities that highlighted the beauty of global unity. Teachers and students collaborated to bring their unique cultures to life, creating a day filled with learning and celebration.

  • SRU’s EP Camp: Students and teachers bonded over engaging activities designed to promote critical thinking, collaboration, and practical learning.

  • WPS Sports Day: A spirited event where students showcased their athletic talents and celebrated the importance of physical fitness and teamwork.

Additionally, this month culminated in two back-to-back events, underscoring BFITS’s commitment to resilience and innovation:

  • Baan Ar Jor Resilience Camp (September 25–28, Phuket, Thailand): In collaboration with the Baan Ar Jor Foundation (Toh Daeng – โต๊ะแดง), this volunteer-driven camp supported children who have faced life’s toughest challenges. Led by BFITS Assistant Director/Camp Manager Giselle Alano, the camp was powered by an incredible team, including five camp teachers (Armando Almeida-Arteaga, Dakota Wolkenfelt, Jaime Saucedo, Joshua Van As, and Millie Hogman) and five Thai support staff (Maysa, Pop, Amm, Plai, and Patcha). This impactful event focused on resilience-building activities, helping students develop life skills and empowering them to reach their full potential.

October: Embracing Change and Team Spirit

The month of October maintained momentum with a blend of welcoming activities and exciting events that highlighted collaboration and growth.

  • BFITS HR Welcome Orientation and Training (October 2024): Led by BFITS HR Manager Angel Ha and Training Manager James Tovey, this October program welcomed new educators with an empowering orientation and comprehensive training. The sessions equipped participants with the confidence, tools, and resources needed for a successful start to Term 2, setting a strong foundation for their teaching journey in Thailand.

  • BD Sports Week: This eagerly anticipated event was a showcase of physical ability, team spirit, and wellness. Students and staff participated in friendly competitions that emphasized the value of sportsmanship and collaboration.

  • RO Sports Day: An inspiring day where students sprinted their way to gold, displaying their determination and enthusiasm in a variety of athletic events.

October was also a month for looking ahead, with schools focusing on strengthening relationships and paving the way for a successful final quarter of the year.

November: Lifelong Learning and Incredible Experiences

November brought opportunities for immersive learning and personal growth.

  • Satriwitthaya 2 M4 Camp at Play La Ploen, Buriram, Thailand: Over three days and two nights, students engaged in activities that enhanced their English conversation skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork. The camp’s “learning by doing” approach created unforgettable experiences and lifelong friendships.

  • SPIM’s Space Exploration: With astronaut Charles “Sam” Gemar returning, this event reignited students’ curiosity about the cosmos and the possibilities of space exploration.

November reminded everyone that education goes beyond the classroom—it’s about creating memories, building character, and inspiring dreams.

December: Festivities, Gratitude, and Celebrating Achievements

“December, the final month of the year, holds a unique place in the calendar. It is a month of giving, family, celebration, and fireworks.”

December wrapped up the year with warmth, joy, and togetherness as BFITS schools celebrated the season with a series of festive events:

  • SW’s Christmas Party 2024: Teachers and staff gathered for a delightful celebration, embracing the holiday spirit with enthusiasm and camaraderie.
BP BFITS Program’s EP & IEP English Integration Camp at The Cavalli Casa Resort, Bankao, Ayutthaya

  • Satriwitthaya 2 M5 Camp: Students relived their experiences as M4 attendees through the #BFITSRewindSeries, revisiting highlights from the 2023 camp. This unique opportunity allowed them to reflect on their growth while participating in hands-on activities designed to foster teamwork and leadership skills.

  • Annual BFITS Holiday Raffle: The grand finale of the year, this much-anticipated event, hosted by BFITS Assistant Director Giselle Alano, and the BFITS HR Team, featured 50 cash prizes and culminated in an exciting grand prize of 10,000 Baht! It was the perfect way to close the year on a note of gratitude and joy, uniting the BFITS family in celebration.
